We finally decided to give this place another try after our terrible experience the first time! Read my first review of this place here. Boy did this place deliver the second time around! When we arrived we were glad to see they opened up the front so their main dining room could have an open outdoor feel. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and sat, already a huge change from our first time there.
For an appetizer we ordered the bacon cheese fries. My husband ordered the LI Ale House burger and I ordered The Raider, a french dip sandwich. We didn't even think to substitute our sides with something other than fries, woops! The appetizer was a gooey, cheesy nest of fries with bacon, scallions and pico de gallo (which we weren't expecting), drizzled with ranch. It definitely hit the spot and we were practically full before our meals even came out! My husband enjoyed his burger that he ordered without the onions, although it was a tad overcooked for medium. My sandwich had some of the best tasting roast beef I've had on a french dip and the garlic roll made it extra special. I did without the lettuce, onion and tomato. The sandwich and burger came with cole slaw which tasted like plain cabbage. It really lacked in flavor and seasoning. My husband also ordered a Long Island Ice Tea, which although tasted good, was a bit overpriced.
Our waitress was friendly and courteous the whole time, checking in on us and refilling our waters when we needed. I did wait a long time for a refill of my unsweetened iced tea and 10-15 minutes later the waitress apologized and said it was taking so long because they had to brew it and she didn't want to serve me hot tea. I just stuck with water until it was ready.
Overall, it was a nice lunch for us. We were sitting practically outside, with the nice breeze coming through. The food was good and service was great. They had a sign outside for their karaoke events and live bands coming up, which I'm guessing takes place in the dining room on the right side of the place because it is completely open. It seems like a place we would return to!
