Gino's of Tuscany - Bethpage

Gino's of Tuscany Restaurant and Pizzeria
3968 Hempstead Turnpike
Bethpage, NY 11714

Overall: 7/10
Food: 8/10
Service: 7/10
Decor: 7/10
Value: 7/10

We have been going to Gino's for years, my wife longer than me since she grew up in the area. Whenever we're around Bethpage and in the mood for pizza, Gino's is our go-to place. Every now and then, my wife will even say she's craving pizza from Gino's and not just any pizza--a grandma slice. According to her, no one comes close with loads of garlic and basil. We just ordered a Grandma pie for take-out the other day so we figured it's time to finally write a review!

When you first walk in, it really looks like a pizzeria, but once you walk through a bit you'll notice the large seating area to the left. While the whole dining area can be used by those there for the pizzeria only, part of the seating is also for those dining in for the restaurant.  The one time we ate there for the restaurant part, it was terrific, but that was years ago so I can't necessarily comment on how it is now.

The decor is simple and feels like an Italian restaurant with the warm colors, venetian plaster, lighting with wall sconces, flowers and copper accents along bar and counters. It is very tasteful and current, without feeling overwhelming. Overall, it is very comfortable.

Aside from the Grandma pizza I've already mentioned, everything we've ever ordered was great! Some might find that the prices are a little more than other local pizza restaurants, but the place stays busy and we keep coming back so that has to say something about the food and service! Everyone there is very pleasant and happy to help you and quick to apologize for any mistakes.

Speaking of mistakes, this last time ordering there I called in a Grandma pizza, was told 10 minutes, picked it up right on time, and headed back to the car. My wife asked if I checked it (which I didn't) so she opened up the box and said it wasn't a Grandma pizza, rather it looked like Sicilian. My receipt showed I paid for a Grandma pizza, so we thought maybe they changed how it was made. She ran back in and told them what happened and the person behind the counter agreed it was a Sicilian pizza. He looked in the oven and sure enough, the pizza was still there. He then called out to the other guys to make 2 more Grandma pizzas for people who were apparently also waiting. We don't know what happened, but we only had to wait an extra minute or so for it to be corrected. He apologized several times and the wait wasn't long, so despite the mistake, it didn't bother us in the least!

And just like always, the Grandma pizza was excellent and we'll be returning soon! If you love great pizza, Gino's is definitely a place to try!
