Eggs Benedict with Chorizo, Garlic Toast and Skillet Fries

Overall: 8.75/10
Food: 9/10
Service: 10/10
Decor: 8/10
Value: 8/10

We decided recently to find a new great breakfast spot instead of our usual of going to a chain or a diner for breakfast. We were torn between two places, and chose Morning Rose Cafe. We are very glad we did! Situated in the village of Bellmore, this restaurant transports you to a quaint Bed and Breakfast. We were immediately and warmly greeted and seated at a table by the window. If there on a busy day in the village, where we sat would be perfect for people watching.

We read over the menu and chose the Greek Berry Belgian Waffle, Eggs Benedict with Chorizo and Garlic Toast over Skillet Fries, a side of Bacon and a Mickey Mouse pancake for the kids. We didn't even ask for them to rush the kids' meal but they made sure it came out well before the other meals, which was great--most times you have to ask for that. Since it was what our daughter picked, they surprised her by making it into a Minnie Mouse pancake. She loved it!

When our food came out, it all looked so delicious and we couldn't wait to dig in. The eggs benedict was excellent and the poached eggs had a perfect runny yolk. The spicy chorizo paired nicely with the garlic toast and skillet fries--whether you ate a big bite with everything or took small pieces of each separately, it was still great. It was definitely a complete meal and almost difficult to finish!

As for the Greek Belgian Waffle, it tasted great with the tart yogurt and sweet berries. It didn't come with maple syrup and it didn't need it. The only drawback to it was that for $10, it is really not much food for one person to be full from, and it doesn't come with any kind of side. The bacon we ordered is what made it a meal, so we only wish it came with a choice of something. As for the bacon, it was the kind of bacon you can only dream of. Smoky and perfectly crispy!

The kids' pancake was adorable with blueberry eyes, a strawberry nose and a strawberry and grape bow. It was plenty for two kids to split, if not three, but it was very dry and needed the sypup. I'm not sure if I'd order plain pancakes on my own unless they are smothered in something, like the Fall Caramel Apple pancakes with sweet cinnamon butter, candied walnuts and apple maple syrup--can you tell we almost ordered those? Next time!

Service was spot on from the second we walked in, and it was a collaborative effort between the owner, waitress and bus person. We were asked several times if we needed anything, and our waters and coffees were always refilled. Everyone interacted with our kids and made us feel like part of the family. The decor was simple and tasteful, with room dividers by the front door and door to the kitchen. The ceiling lighting fixtures and wall scones, white painted tin ceiling and wainscoting gave the place a colonial and extra B&B feel.

With the quality of food, top notch service and relaxing, welcoming environment, we look forward to returning very soon!
