Beef and Broccoli with Pork Fried Rice

Sesame Chicken

It was a Friday or Saturday night and right around the dinner rush, so we decided to skip our favorite Chinese restaurant that usually has an hour wait. It's always good to find an alternative when you want quick food, and that's what we were looking for. I can't necessarily say that we found it.

I had a few menus sitting around and chose China Wok because they were closer, and the prices were a little less than than the others. When I called, I placed my order, gave my phone number and the man went to say good bye. I interjected quickly and told him he had not taken my address. He laughed and realized his mistake, and then I tried telling him my address. I had to say it and spell it out several times, and I thought he finally got it. I also wanted to pay with a card over the phone, which I do quite frequently, and he took down my card number.

About 20 minutes later a woman calls me saying that they forgot to run my card and the driver was out with my food, so if I wanted to leave the tip on the card, how much. The food had not arrived yet but I went ahead and told her my tip to put on the card. Soon after I started wondering where the food was.

I received a phone call from the delivery driver saying they were trying to find our house, but that it didn't exist, so could I please verify my address. Sure enough, the person who took the order didn't get the street name right at all. She apologized many times and said she would be right here. Less than 5 minutes later she arrived and the food was still hot, so it was fine.

The food itself was average for Chinese takeout, but for the price it was pretty good. We got the Sesame Chicken combo and Beef and Broccoli combo which both come with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. We also ordered the Boneless Spare Ribs and Fried Wontons with Sweet & Sour Sauce. The only thing we didn't care for were the ribs--cooked too much and fatty, so some parts were very hard while other parts were just pure fat. We wouldn't order those again.

I'm not sure if we'll order from China Wok again because of the delivery issue, but perhaps we will give them a chance to redeem themselves, maybe do takeout instead of delivery. The very reasonable pricing will probably bring us back, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was probably a one-time thing. We will see!
